Luckily for those who hate season finale teasers, Adrian Peterson has clarified what his future looks like.

Arizona Cardinals running back Adrian Peterson is headed to injured reserve because of a neck injury he suffered three weeks ago, as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

In a statement, the running back says he's focused on getting better and looking forward to next season.

Peterson is technically under contract for another season with the Cardinals.

All told, Peterson piled up 129 carries for 448 yards and two touchdowns in six games before he was shut down for the season. "I'm grateful for the opportunity that the Arizona Cardinals have given me to show that I can still contribute to a an National Football League team".

According to CNN, someone took possession of the assistant's phone while he was at the gym and sent the tweet. Meanwhile, some Twitter users were not convinced of CNN's explanation regarding the alleged hack.

Coach Bruce Arians said this week he wasn't sure whether Peterson would return from the injury and there had been no improvement in his condition.

Acquired from New Orleans on October 10, Peterson ran for 448 yards - 314 in his first three games - and two touchdowns on 129 carries and had nine catches for 66 yards for the Cardinals. He also had a 159-yard game against San Francisco, when the Cardinals gave him 37 carries.

Peterson was acquired by the Cardinals after playing in four games with the Saints.

Peterson signed a two-year deal with the Saints during the offseason after his 2017 option was not picked up by the Minnesota Vikings.
