Bon Jovi have responded to the news that they are to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year.

Shut out altogether are first-time nominees Radiohead, Kate Bush, Depeche Mode, Eurythmics, Rage Against the Machine and Judas Priest (whose lead singer, Rob Halford, has a condo overlooking Balboa Park) in San Diego.

Edge is the only remaining member of the original lineup of the band, which scored its first hit with "Go Now" in 1965.

According to the Associated Press, Bon Jovi, Dire Straits, Nina Simone, The Cars, The Moody Blues, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe will all be inducted into the Hall next year.

"Wenner used to run the Hall of Fame, but he's lost his clout", one insider said.

The 2018 induction ceremony will be held April 14 at Public Auditorium in Cleveland, which is also the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. An edited version will be broadcast on HBO and SiriusXM radio in spring 2018.

Speaking in October, former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora said he'd be open to performing with the band again should they get inducted - and he'll enter the Hall with Jon Bon Jovi, David Bryan, Alec John Such and Tico Torres.

In addition Dire Straits, The Cars, and The Moody Blues will also be recognized.

No more "Livin' on a Prayer" - Bon Jovi has made it all the way into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Musical artists become eligible for induction when 25 years have elapsed since their first release.

Ballots are cast by approximately 1,000 artists, historians, critics (including this writer) and other music industry professionals.

Jann Wenner's loss is Bon Jovi's gain.
