Israeli missiles struck a military base near Damascus early Saturday morning, Syrian state television said.
Although the air defences responded to the attack, intercepting two of the missiles, the rest caused damage to the base.
The attack killed and wounded a number of Iranian soldiers, according to Al Qoraish, an Arab newspaper in London. In this way, Israeli officials claim that their strikes are counterterror operations as the resistance group is considered a terrorist organization under Israeli law.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned in a video clip published Saturday night that Israel would not tolerate an Iranian military presence in Syria.
Israel has declined to comment.
"We will not allow that regime to entrench itself militarily in Syria, as it seeks to do, for the expressed goal of eradicating our state", Netanyahu said. Like other recent strikes inside Syria, the Israeli jets reportedly fired from over Lebanese airspace, in order to avoid both Syrian anti-aircraft missile systems and provoking a Russian response.
