Thunder Charter Plane Lands Safely Despite Massive Dent in Nose
The Thunder lost to the Timberwolves in Minneapolis on Friday night and will play the Bulls in Chicago on Saturday. But a Thunder spokesperson told an Oklahoma newspaper that all players, staff and coaches were safe.
Reeder said that troopers tried to stop the boy by putting stop sticks on the highway to disable the vehicle. He tried to avoid the spikes by serving into a grassy area, where an officer struck the auto at a relatively slow speed with his vehicle while another officer used his cruiser to block the boy from returning to the road.
"It was very lucky no one was hurt", Sgt. Tim Hoffman of the highway patrol told the Post.
After detaining the boy, his mother informed police this was the second time in two weeks he had taken a family member's auto. As he was taken into custody, he tried to spit in several officers faces and even kick one in the chin, WEWS reports.
On Thursday he was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Police will consult with county prosecutors about possible charges. In that case, officers found the boy driving in the fast lane on I-90 with three flat tires, according to the report.
"He's a good driver", the tow operator told News 5.
The boy said he was bored and chose to take the auto for a ride, according to the police report.
