The brother of the Las Vegas gunman, who killed 58 people and injured almost 500 more, was arrested Wednesday in Los Angeles on child pornography charges, officials said.

The brother of the man behind the worst mass shooting in modern United States history has been arrested on suspicion of having child pornography, police said today.

On the night of October 1, Bruce Paddock's older brother, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock fired on a concert crowd from his hotel room in Las Vegas.

In a press release, the Los Angeles Police Department said the investigation began after evidence was discovered inside a business where Bruce Paddock had been squatting after being evicted.

Police say the alleged offences all occurred in an eight-month period, between January 1 and August 30 in 2014.

"They were just asking about our childhood, what schools we went to, who his friends were", Paddock said.

Bruce Paddock is not considered a suspect in the Las Vegas shooting.

He spoke with NBC News in the aftermath of the attack and said he hadn't talked with his brother in about 10 years.

Authorities were unable to locate Paddock during the initial investigation.

This follows TMZ's earlier reporting that Bruce Paddock has a long rap sheet that includes crimes such as arson, vandalism, criminal threats, drug charges, and burglary.
