The New York Times, which first reported the request for documents, said Mueller wants documents from 13 different areas including Trump's firing of former national security adviser Mike Flynn and former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey.
The New York Times is reporting Robert Mueller has asked the White House for documents on certain things President Trump's done since January. Per Comey's later testimony, Trump asked him to "let" the Flynn investigation "go".
The fact that Mueller's team would speak with Rosenstein is not surprising given his direct involvement in Trump administration conversations that preceded the May 9 ouster and the evolving White House explanations of it.
In June 2016, Trump Jr. agreed to meet a woman whom he thought was a Russian government lawyer who might have dirt on Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
Mr. Cobb was heard talking about a White House lawyer he deemed "a [Don] McGahn spy" and saying Mr. McGahn had "a couple documents locked in a safe" that he seemed to suggest he wanted access to.
"The White House remains committed to cooperate fully with the special counsel", Cobb said.
Donald Glover, Julia Louis-Dreyfus take home comedy Emmys
McKinnon bested two of her SNL co-stars, Leslie Jones and Vanessa Bayer, while Melissa McCarthy won for her guest work. It's a three-peat for "The Voice", which has won the best reality competition Emmy Award again.
Another area which Mueller is investigating is Trump's decision on how to respond to reports of a meeting between his son, Donald Jr., and Russian nationals during the election campaign.
Mueller's team has not reached out for any additional documents or information from Trump.
US officials said Flynn had told the vice president that he had only exchanged holiday greetings with Kislyak, when in fact the two men had discussed economic sanctions against Russian Federation.
It's the clearest signal yet that Mueller's investigation is reaching right into the Oval Office, right up to the Resolute desk.
Mr Flynn was sacked after it emerged he had been misleading about contacts he had with Mr Kislyak. It was revealed earlier this month that Trump and aide Stephen Miller had drafted, but not sent, an earlier memo that sought to justify Comey's firing.
"So what happened with respect to that meeting is critically important, as well as what happened with respect to firing James Comey, the FBI Director".
