After being aligned with the Pettys and driver Aric Almirola since 2012, Smithfield Foods Inc. has announced it will leave Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) and join Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) as a primary sponsor at the beginning of 2018.

"I wish SHR the best of luck with their new sponsorship and driver".

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - Matt Kenseth was blunt when he said you won't see him replacing Danica Patrick next year at Stewart-Haas Racing.

Dillon finished 21st Saturday night, two spots ahead of Patrick in the regular-season finale for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

"Oh, yeah. She punted me, so I just punted her back", Dillon said.

Danica Patrick is not ready to give up racing, but she is ready to retire if she can not find a competitive ride with a team that believes in her.

Death toll rises to 61 after Mexico's strongest quake in 100 years
The 8.1-magnitude quake, which reached from Guatemala City to Mexico City , registered on the southern coast of the country. The last major quake to have shaken up Mexico was the 1985 tremor , which has resulted in the death of thousands of people.

"It has been my honor to drive for Tony Stewart, Gene Haas and everyone at Stewart-Haas Racing for the past six seasons".

She also would miss the instant gratification she gets when young girls' eyes light up as she meets them weekly at the race track. Sure, she could win a race on strategy and get in the playoffs, but more than likely, it will be more of the same with maybe a slight improvement. She said she wasn't dreading the appearance and was in a good place mentally. But the question remains if she can pull enough partners together to fund a ˜$20 million Cup program. When she qualified on the second row for the 2008 Indy 500, four years into her IndyCar career, the 4.6 was better than it's been in the nine years since - including for the 100th running (3.9) and for Fernando Alonso-mania (3.4). In 180 career Cup starts, she never won a race.

"Making the jump from IndyCar to NASCAR is not easy, yet she had the courage to do so and put up better numbers than a lot of other drivers who have tried to make that same transition", Stewart wrote. Patrick's contract with SHR ran through 2018, but the team has been searching for sponsorship since the Nature's Bakery fiasco. Anything less would be a disservice to her time and resources. Her move was going to attract legions of fans to the sport and open up all new demographics for NASCAR.

She knows this is a business, and with no sponsorship right now, she has no ride.

"I've always driven for good teams, and I'm grateful for that, which is why if I don't feel like I'm given the opportunity to be with a team that can do that for me and give me opportunities on a more consistent basis, then I don't have interest".
