Raptors, Pacers agree to Cory Joseph sign-and

Toronto is finalizing a sign-and-trade with IN to move Cory Joseph for CJ Miles, league sources tell ESPN. Among the biggest deals of the week was James Harden's record-setting $228 million contract extension to remain with the Houston Rockets through 2022-23.

The Nets will send Justin Hamilton to the Raptors in the Carroll trade and will also receive a future first-round and second-round pick.

Some Raptors fans have pointed to Carroll's salary, his declining production and bouts with injuries, as the rationale that Toronto has not lost out on too much in this trade, even if they have no idea who Justin Hamilton is and that it costed the team two draft picks.

The six-foot-eight, 212-pound Carroll averaged 8.9 points per game last season while playing a little over 26 minutes per game.

A record 24 teams made the trip to Southern Nevada and will be participating in the tournament-style play this year. Last year, the Timberwolves advanced to the summer league championship round but fell short to the Chicago Bulls.

For the Pacers, the consistent and defensively-solid Joseph fits with their plan to rebuild after trading Paul George to Oklahoma City, ESPN notes.

Essentially Toronto is saving themselves approximately $30 million over two years as they look to retool around recently re-signed Kyle Lowry so that they can better compete in the Eastern Conference.

After the trade becomes official, the Nets will have around $17 million in cap space. However, the move was more of a financially-motivated decision for Toronto. As for Stephenson, he will likely split time at shooting guard and small forward. Both draft picks are for 2018. The Wizards probably thought they were getting revenge for what they perceived as Marks' extortionist bid for an above-average young player by stringing it out until Wednesday, but it seems Marks will get the last word. The deal won't be officially announced until the Nets' work out their salary-cap situation. Atkinson used the severely undersized Hollis-Jefferson as a slash-4 (it would be a stretch to call him a stretch-4 given his abysmal shooting stats) last season, so I would expect Carroll to play up in certain small-ball configurations. Since being a second-round draft pick by the Phildelphia 76ers in the 2012 National Basketball Association draft, Hamilton has played for four teams in his National Basketball Association career. His deal has a player option for the third-season.
