This evening it was confirmed that 800 households are to be evacuated from a council estate in north London in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire to allow "urgent fire safety works" to take place.
"It's vital for all of London's residents who live in high-rise buildings, that we learn from investigations into what caused and exacerbated the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower".
It came as four more victims of Grenfell Tower were formally identified, taking the known victims of the fire to nine.
She said: "At the end of today, they told us they could not guarantee our residents' safety in those blocks and so I have made the really really hard decision to move the people living there into temporary accommodation while we do the urgent works to guarantee safety". We will also be working with residents to test white goods (PAT testing), assessing fire doors in properties and we will be providing fire safety advice to residents.
The council is encouraging residents to stay with friends and family, but promised to provide temporary accommodations, if that weren't possible.
