CNN, meanwhile, reported on Tuesday that "Russian government officials discussed having potentially "derogatory" information about then-presidential candidate Donald Trump and some of his top aides in conversations intercepted by U.S. intelligence during the 2016 election".
The Russians discussed whether or not they would be able to influence Trump's circle or a potential administration during the 2016 campaign, according to CNN.
President Donald Trump began the day with two tweets, one addressing conspiracy theories involving Russian Federation that continued to dominate liberal media headlines on Tuesday; and the other addressing Angela Merkel's remarks about the US being an unreliable partner under Donald Trump's leadership.
The Russian government officials, whose conversations were intercepted by American intelligence gatherers, discussed embarrassing information that was apparently financial.
Yates confirmed reports that she had told the White House, six days into Trump's administration, that Flynn, a former military intelligence chief, had not been honest with Vice President Mike Pence about his discussions with the Russian ambassador to Washington, leaving him vulnerable to leverage from Moscow. Mr. Brennan did not name either the Russians or the Trump people. His lawyer admits that the House has requested information on his Russian contacts, but he has not yet been subpoenaed.
Ariana Grande 'traumatised' by Manchester attack
New developments, unforeseen and unwelcome to the British government, have emerged in the wake of Monday's bombing in Manchester . Abedi's family remained a focus , too, with a brother in England, his father and another brother in Libya among those detained.
But the sources warned that the Russian officials' claims "could have been exaggerated or even made up" as part of a ploy to sow disinformation during the election, CNN reported.
Trump's critics pointed out that while the "golden shower" allegation has not been verified, US intelligence services have confirmed other claims about Trump's links with the Russians contained in the dossier. The Post had last week reported that top Trump aide Jared Kushner had tried to create a back-channel communications with Russian Federation. "The reality is, a review of the President's income from the last 10 years showed he had virtually no financial ties at all". There appears to be no limit to which the President's political opponents will go to perpetuate this false narrative, including illegally leaking classified material.
The FBI declined to comment for this story. "All this does is play into the hands of our adversaries and put our country at risk". All of those communications are now in the hands of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Special Counsel Robert Mueller, so at some point it will likely be confirmed.
Without the tax returns of Trump and other others closest to him, it is impossible to know if the Russians are telling the truth.
