During an interview with Trump Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Meet The Press host Chuck Todd confronted Tillerson directly about the Trump administration's refusal to talk to Russian Federation about their interference in the 2016 election, and it was what Tillerson didn't say that spoke volumes about Trump's guilt.
One exception was Meet the Press, where Secretary of State Rex Tillerson appeared.
"So the president, I think, is committed to at least make an effort in that regard", he said, "and he has certainly asked me to make an important effort as well". And so that's my only line. Afterward few said any new information emerged about the increasingly tense United States standoff with Pyongyang.
"I think we have a number of important issues that need to be addressed in relations between the U.S. and Russian Federation".
Tillerson said he wants to help President Trump fulfill the promises he made to the millions of Americans who voted him into office, but his top priority is to remain true to his values and to the American people.
Speaking on NBC on Sunday, Tillerson reiterated that relations had fallen to "an all-time low point since the end of the Cold War, with a very low level of trust".
"America's values of freedom, of treatment of people, human dignity, freedom of expression throughout the world. serve as the boundaries as we develop our foreign policy approaches and our diplomatic efforts", Tillerson told Todd on Meet the Press. He never said that Russia would be punished and even more tellingly he never specifically mentioned Russian interference in the USA election.
Even so, "it's in the interest of the American people, it's in the interest of Russian Federation, the rest of the world, that we do something to see if we can not improve the relationship between the two greatest nuclear powers in the world", Tillerson said.

He stated that they are very close, but he is still very hesitant because it is something that he is very desperate to do. Executive producer Brian Grazer said two years ago that he was working on 17 new episodes.
However, "whether we can improve it or not remains to be seen", he added.
"We have such a broad range of important issues that have to be addressed in the US-Russia relationship". But I am devoted to helping the president achieve his objectives, helping him be successful.
The Kremlin denies it interfered in the election. We don't dismiss any of them.
The agenda for Trump's trip, which includes visits to Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Vatican, is meant to "bring a message of unity among all of these people of faith, among these great religions", Tillerson said.
"You can not erase the past".
And you know, these are not new tactics on the part of the Russian government, directed not only at us but at others.
"And yes, there are a large number of issues that we have to get around to addressing in order to put this relationship back together, if that is indeed possible".
