The Senate had last week tasked the committee chaired by Samuel Anyanwu, PDP-Imo, to investigate an allegation that Mr. Melaye, APC-Kogi, did not graduate from ABU as he claimed.
Senator Dino Melaye is now appearing before the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges over allegations that he did not graduate from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) as claimed.
Meanwhile, as ABU continues to stall on releasing an official statement on the issue, Harvard University has clarified that Melaye was not a graduate of the institution as he only completed a week-long leadership seminar in November 2016.
At the Senate hearing on Monday, March 27, 2017, Professor Garba said Melaye graduated from the institution, but not with his current name.
Sen. Ndume however stressed that he did not write any petition against any of the senators but only raised a point of order with the intention of clearing the senators from the alleged wrongdoings.

Royal Jordanian Airlines tweeted a poem mocking the series of controversial bans, courtesy the Donald Trump administration. The national carriers of Saudi Arabia and Jordan said they are banning items such as laptops and tablets inside the cabin.
LOL! This is really an elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. So, a lot of precedence haver been set.
"Therefore, accordingly, I will appeal we refer the matter to Ethics and Privileges to investigate so that the certificate scandal would be cleared and this Senate will stand as it is supposed to".
Documents obtained by Saturday PUNCH revealed that the beleaguered senator has a Bachelor of Arts certificate (third class) in Geography from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, alongside a diploma certificate from the University of Jos.
He said, "he officially changed his name from Daniel Melaye to Dino Melaye and he is ready to tender the affidavit".
