RuPaul Biographical Dramedy In the Works From JJ Abrams' Bad Robot

Power executive producer Gary Lennon has reportedly signed on to write the series, with the drama expected to be taken to the marketplace shortly to be bought by a network, according to Rolling Stone.

RuPaul's rise in the Eighties from club kid to drag superstar will serve as inspiration for a new, as-yet-untitled half-hour dramedy series.

RuPaul will executive produce alongside Bad Robot's Abrams and Ben Stephenson as well as World of Wonder's Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, and Tom Campbell.

RuPaul, a San Diego native, moved to NYC after attending school in Atlanta.

As J.J. Abrams' production company, Bad Robot is probably best known for its involvement in his high-minded, lens flare-packed sci-fi stories, but the studio actually does do other things.

In the meantime, the star is moving full speed ahead with the ninth season of "RuPaul's Drag Race", which is set to move from Logo to VH1 on March 24.
