Russian jets buzzed a USA guided missile destroyer in the Black Sea last week, the first such known incident since President Trump took office.

One of the incidents, the United States official said, involved two supersonic Su-24 attack jets.

Russian aircraft flew close to a us warship in the Black Sea last week, a USA defense official said, a charge the Russian military denied. The type of planes involved in the incident included SU-24 Fencer supersonic attack jets and a single Ilyushin IL-38 reconnaissance aircraft.

In April 2016 two Russian warplanes flew simulated attack passes near a US guided missile destroyer in the Baltic Sea so close that they created wake in the water. "All of our flights were conducted and are being conducted over the neutral waters of the Black Sea in accordance with global rules and safety requirements", Major General Igor Konashenkov said in a statement.

'Such incidents are concerning because they can result in accident or miscalculation, ' he said referring to actions that could spark an unintended shootout by military forces.

In response, Major General Igor Konashenkov released a statement on behalf of the Russian Military of Defence, which read: "There were no incidents related to a flyby of Russian military aircraft near the USS Porter destroyer in the Black Sea on February 10". "The Porter crew thoroughly enjoyed our time in the Black Sea", said the ship's commanding officer, Commander Andria Slough.

In 2016, asked about a Russian fighter jet barrel-rolling next to a USA ship, Donald Trump suggested the Navy has "gotta shoot" if Vladimir Putin ignored calls to stop.

The incidents occurred on the final day of NATO's 10-day maritime drills near Constanta, Romania. Porter left the Black Sea on February 11.

The three recent incidents were reportedly less provocative than Russia's buzzing of the USS Donald Cook in the Baltic Sea in April past year with two Sukhoi Su-24 Fencers.

Russian Federation has been concerned by years of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation military buildup on its borders. Finally, a different Su-24 buzzed the ship, he said.
