Autopsies continue on bodies found during search for 2 girls

Abigail Williams and Liberty German, both 13, were last seen around 1pm Monday when they were dropped near the picturesque Monon High Bridge near the small city of Delphi, Indiana.

The family asked us to thank the communities around Delphi and the people here in Delphi for assisting in attempting to locate the two young children who were missing here earlier.

A report via Fox 59 says at the time of the initial missing report, police hadn't suspected foul play based off of the details the family gave police.

Delphi Police Chief Steve Mullins said the discovery of the bodies alongside the search for the girls had shocked the people living around the place.

IN authorities confirmed Wednesday that the two bodies found near a creek are those of two missing teenagers and their deaths are being investigated as homicides.

They were supposed to return to the same spot later in the day to be picked up. It is unclear who discovered the bodies, but they were discovered on Tuesday about half a mile from the Monon High Bridge.

The girls were reported missing when they failed to show up to a meeting point after a hike.

Anna Williams, Abigail's mother, said: "I'm getting scared now".

Investigators didn't confirm if the bodies found on Tuesday were those of the missing teens, saying only that they believe foul play was suspected.

"All I want to do is have the girls get home safe".

Officers looked into issuing an Amber Alert, but were informed this incident does not meet the criteria.

A K-9 unit and a dive team were deployed to search for the teens.
